APGA Unveils Candidates For Anambra Chairmanship Primaries

All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has announced the list of aspirants cleared to contest its chairmanship primaries ahead of the 2026 local government elections in Anambra State.

The list, released on Sunday, the 15th of February, 2026, at the party’s state secretariat in Awka, details candidates approved to participate in the party’s primaries across all 21 local government areas of the state.

In a statement signed by Dr. Ejimofor Opara, National Publicity Secretary of APGA, explained that the clearance followed the completion of screening exercises conducted in accordance with party guidelines.

The statement highlighted that aspirants from every local government area successfully met the requirements necessary to contest the forthcoming primaries for council chairmanship positions.

Among the cleared candidates are Kingsley Ezeagu (Aguata), Ifeanyi Chinweze (Anambra East), Tony Obierika (Anambra West), Paulinus Okafor (Anaocha), ThankGod Anago (Awka North), and Chinedu Okafor (Awka South), with others representing the remaining councils.

APGA reiterated its dedication to holding transparent and credible primaries, urging party members and supporters to uphold unity and adhere strictly to party rules during the election period.

The Anambra local government elections are scheduled for the 29th of August, with political parties ramping up preparations ahead of the polls.
