Army Foils ISWAP Attack In Borno Community

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully repelled an attempted infiltration by suspected fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) into Gajiram town in Nganzai Local Government Area of Borno State.

This was made known in an X post shared by security analyst Zagagola Magama on Saturday.

According to the post, the attack occurred when the insurgents reportedly advanced toward the community in an attempt to breach its defenses.

The troops, however, responded swiftly, engaging the attackers in a firefight that ultimately forced them to retreat.

Despite the successful defense, the encounter resulted in the death of one member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who was said to have been killed in action while supporting military efforts to secure the town.

Residents of Gajiram were reported to be calm, with normalcy gradually returning to the area after the incident.
