Troops Foil Robbery Attempt Kill Suspect During Operation In Kaduna

Troops have successfully foiled a robbery attempt along a major route in Kaduna State, neutralising one suspected armed robber during a swift security operation.

The development was disclosed on Saturday in a post shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, who cited security sources familiar with the incident.

According to the report, the operation was triggered by a distress call from a motorist who alerted authorities to the activities of suspected armed robbers along the Mallagum–Kagoro–Kaura checkpoint axis in Kaura Local Government Area.

Responding promptly, troops mobilised to the scene and carried out a route clearance patrol aimed at restoring safety for commuters and residents in the area.

During the operation, the security team encountered the suspects, leading to a gun exchange.

“One of the armed robbers was neutralised during the encounter, while others fled into nearby bushes with suspected gunshot wounds,” a security source said.

Following the confrontation, troops conducted a search of the area and recovered several items believed to have been used by the suspects, including a locally made firearm, a cutlass, and a knife.

The source further revealed that soldiers discharged six rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition during the operation.

Efforts are currently underway to track down the fleeing suspects, while normalcy has reportedly returned to the affected route.

The incident highlights ongoing security concerns in parts of Kaduna State, even as security forces continue to intensify operations to safeguard lives and property.

For motorists and residents, the swift response by troops offers a measure of reassurance, though many continue to call for sustained security presence to prevent future incidents.
