Army Intensifies Crackdown, Arrests 28, Seizes Stolen Crude Oil

The Nigerian Army has ramped up its operations against crude oil theft and criminal networks across the South-South and South-East regions, recording major arrests and seizures in coordinated raids.

According to operational updates released on Monday, troops deployed under Operation Delta Safe uncovered a wooden boat carrying approximately 75,000 litres of stolen crude oil in Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The discovery highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle oil theft syndicates operating in the Niger Delta.

In a separate operation in Bayelsa State, troops working alongside the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) carried out coordinated raids across Yenagoa, leading to the arrest of 28 suspects.

Authorities confirmed that substantial quantities of illegal substances were recovered during the operation.

Meanwhile, in Ebonyi State, troops under Operation UDO KA successfully thwarted an attempted act of vandalism targeting critical infrastructure at a construction site in Afikpo.

Security operatives initially apprehended one suspect, whose arrest led to the capture of three additional accomplices. Items recovered from the suspects included cables, batteries, and cutting equipment.

The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements, particularly those involved in economic sabotage and infrastructure attacks, as part of broader efforts to enhance security and stability in the affected regions.
