Arsenal Advance As Chelsea, City Crash Out Of Champions League

Arsenal secured their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with a composed 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Gunners took control of the tie through Eberechi Eze, who opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a clinical finish.

Midfielder Declan Rice then sealed the win in the 63rd minute, ensuring progression with a 3-1 aggregate triumph.

Arsenal will now face Sporting CP in the quarter-finals after the Portuguese side delivered a dominant performance to eliminate Bodo/Glimt.

Sporting cruised to a 3-0 win after extra time in Lisbon, completing a comprehensive 5-0 aggregate victory.

Elsewhere, it was a disappointing night for English clubs. Chelsea were emphatically knocked out following a 3-0 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, crashing out with a heavy 8-2 aggregate loss.

Manchester City also bowed out of the competition after a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants progressed comfortably with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline.

Tuesday’s results underline a mixed night for Premier League sides, with Arsenal flying the flag into the last eight, while Chelsea and City exit the competition in disappointing fashion.
