Elsewhere, it was a disappointing night for English clubs. Chelsea were emphatically knocked out following a 3-0 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, crashing out with a heavy 8-2 aggregate loss.
Manchester City also bowed out of the competition after a 2-1 defeat at the Etihad Stadium to Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants progressed comfortably with a 5-1 aggregate scoreline.
