Bauchi Cracks Down: Four Senior Officers Sanctioned for Gross Misconduct

The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has officially announced disciplinary action against four senior government officials following investigations into gross misconduct related to their official duties.

The decision was formalized and communicated to journalists in Bauchi on Friday, the 21st of November, 2025, by Saleh Umar, the Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission.

Umar stated that this collective action, reached during the Commission’s plenary session, demonstrates its unwavering commitment to maintaining high standards across the State Civil Service.

The sanctioned individuals, all attached to the Bill and Melinda Gates College of Health Sciences Technology in Ningi Local Government Area, include Garba Hussaini, a Director of Education and former Provost; Haruna Umar, a Deputy Director of Administration and Human Resources; Umar Yusuf, Chief Executive Officer (Account)–Bursar; and Mohammed Usman, Chief Clerical Officer–Cashier.

Umar confirmed that the interdicted officers have been placed on 50 percent salary, effective October 28, 2025, pending the full conclusion of the ongoing investigations. The disciplinary action was necessary, as detailed by the Commission’s spokesman:

“The Commission’s decision was made to enable further investigation into the allegations against the officers. The officers were found liable for misconduct contrary to Bauchi State Public Service Regulations 0327 (x) and (xxii) and were interdicted under rules 0329 (i), (ii) and (iii) to keep them away from their duty posts for effective investigation.”

In a contrasting report on merit and performance, the Commission also announced promotions for twenty-one officers. The Commission has promoted twenty-one officers to the next ranks of Deputy Chief Librarian, Assistant Chief Librarian, and Principal Librarian on grade levels 15, 14, 13, 12, and 10 respectively. Umar added that others include Assistant Chief Executive Officer and Chief Confidential Secretary on grade levels 13 and 14.

Concluding the statement, the PRO noted that Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad, Chairman of the Commission, reiterated the body’s firm commitment to due process under his leadership, emphasizing the core values of integrity, transparency, and fairness. The Chairman expressed concern regarding the careless attitude of some civil servants who demonstrate a lack of awareness concerning disciplinary procedures and the resultant consequences.

“The Chairman urged all workers to familiarise themselves with the dos and don’ts of the service in carrying out their duties to avoid unnecessary infractions,” he added.
