Bauchi Gov Appoints Elder Brother as Duguri Emir

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has named his elder brother, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, as the Emir of the newly created Duguri Emirate.

The Secretary to the State Government, Aminu Hammayo, handed over the appointment letter on behalf of the governor during a ceremony at the Duguri Emir’s palace in Alkaleri Local Government Area on Friday, the 24th of October, 2025.

At the event, Hammayo encouraged Emir Adamu Mohammed to support government policies and play an active role in the state’s growth and development.

Emir Adamu Mohammed, in his response, thanked the governor for the honor and prayed for God’s blessings upon him. He further pledged loyalty to the Bauchi State Government and the Bauchi Emirate Council.

Meanwhile, in a related ceremony, Hammayo also delivered an appointment letter to Alhaji Jibrin D. Hassan, the newly appointed Emir of Bununu Emirate.

Hammayo called on the new traditional ruler to foster peace, unity, and respect for the law within all communities under his leadership. Emir Jibrin D. Hassan expressed appreciation to the governor and assured that he would not disappoint the government or the people.

Earlier, it was reported that Governor Bala Mohammed had signed a law establishing 13 new emirates across Bauchi State.
