Governor Douye Diri has appointed Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer as the new Head of the Civil Service in Bayelsa State.
Dr. Sawyer takes over from Barrister Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, who retired on August 31 after more than 20 years in the service.
Born in Odi, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area, Sawyer joined the Bayelsa civil service in 1998 as a medical officer.

He holds a medical degree from the University of Port Harcourt, a master’s in public health from the University of Lagos, and is pursuing a Ph.D. at the Niger Delta University.
Before his appointment, he was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
Governor Diri commended the outgoing Head of Service for her contributions and expressed confidence in Sawyer’s ability to drive professionalism and accountability in the civil service.
