The Bayelsa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Biseni community in Yenagoa Local Government Area following a breakdown of law and order.
The directive, issued by Governor Douye Diri on Friday, takes immediate effect as authorities move to restore calm in the affected community.
The government said the decision followed security briefings on disturbances in the area, where some individuals reportedly barricaded roads leading into and within the community and set bonfires.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Alabra.
According to the statement, Diri ordered the restriction of movement across Biseni in response to the deteriorating security situation.

The government did not provide further details on the circumstances that led to the unrest or indicate when the curfew would be reviewed.
