Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have recovered and neutralised improvised explosive devices planted by suspected terrorists along the Magami-Hannutara-Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
In a statement on Friday, the operation reportedly prevented a potential tragedy involving commuters using the road.
The troops acted on credible intelligence about the explosives and secured the affected area before conducting a thorough search, during which they discovered two locations where the devices had been planted.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was subsequently deployed to handle the situation.
According to the military operation, the team destroyed one of the devices and safely recovered and rendered the second harmless.

Following the discovery, the troops intensified patrols and surveillance along the route to protect residents and prevent further security threats.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to counter terrorist activities and safeguard communities and road users in Zamfara State.
The military urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious objects or activities to the nearest security agency to aid efforts to maintain peace and security.
