A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Bode George, has threatened to institute legal proceedings against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over allegations linking a property he owns in Abuja to funds from Rivers State.
Wike had, during a media briefing in Abuja, challenged the elder statesman to explain how he acquired the property located in the Maitama district of the Federal Capital Territory.
The minister alleged that the house was purchased with funds originating from Rivers State.
Reacting to the allegation during an appearance on TVC News on Wednesday, George dismissed the claims and vowed to seek redress in court.
“How was my house in Abuja bought with Rivers funds? I’m going to take him to court. I’m sure he was high on something,” he said.

The former Deputy National Chairman of the PDP also claimed that Wike had a strained relationship with his father.
“He is just the same age as my first child. Go and find out what his father did to him and what he did to his father. In Africa, do you know what it means when your biological father disowns you?” George said.
He further insisted that the property in question was legally acquired and had no connection with public funds from Rivers State.
“He is talking absolute rubbish. I didn’t even build the house; I bought it, and it is still there. Am I from Rivers State that I will go there and collect funds? I’m not like him,” he added.
The exchange marks the latest chapter in the ongoing political disagreement between the two prominent members of the opposition party.
