Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has claimed that the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, becomes unhappy whenever Nigeria records progress.
Bwala made the remarks in a post shared on his X account on Friday, where he criticised Obi over comments attributed to him on fuel subsidy removal, state policing and foreign exchange reforms.
According to Bwala, Obi had previously advocated for the removal of fuel subsidy before the 2023 general election but has now allegedly changed his position.
He also claimed that Obi had initially supported the creation of state police and the unification of Nigeria’s foreign exchange market but was now taking a different stance.

“I don’t know why every time Nigeria makes progress, it angers Peter Obi @PeterObi. Why?” Bwala wrote.
“It is the same Nigeria he is trying to govern in his wild goose chase. It might be true to say that the only person he pays attention to is the mad man on Opi-Iweka Road.”
The presidential aide further stated that the Tinubu administration had implemented policies Obi had once proposed.
“Before the 2023 elections, he promised to take away the subsidy; we did, and now he is saying he won’t. He said he would make state police; we did, but now he’s saying he won’t.
“He said he would bring all the foreign exchange together; we did, and now he is saying he won’t. It looks like he doesn’t have a clear idea of what he intends to do for Nigeria,” Bwala added.
