C4Change Backs Efianya, Demands Fresh Leadership In Aniocha/Oshimili

A political pressure group, Campaign for Change Initiative (C4Change), has thrown its weight behind Michael Chuks Efianya for the Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring that the era of “recycling political elites” must end.

The group, in a statement issued on Tuesday in Asaba by its constituency coordinator, Comrade Ukah Stainless Uchechukwu, said Efianya represents a new generation of leadership capable of delivering purposeful representation at the National Assembly.

“We are tired of the politics of recycling among elites. Aniocha/Oshimili is not a family business. What we need now is fresh air and a strong citizens’ voice at the National Assembly,” the group said.

C4Change described Efianya, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as a credible and people-oriented grassroots mobiliser whose track record in youth development and community service sets him apart from other contenders.

According to the group, Efianya’s entry into the 2027 race presents “a unique opportunity to redefine representation, accelerate development, and restore purposeful leadership” in the constituency.

The group urged stakeholders across the constituency — including traditional leaders, professionals, women, and youth groups — to rally behind what it called a “compelling and people-centred candidacy.”

It noted that findings from its consultations across the constituency showed growing support for Efianya, citing his administrative capacity, bridge-building approach, and commitment to inclusive governance.

“Efianya has consistently demonstrated leadership that connects with the grassroots. He understands the socioeconomic realities of the people and possesses the capacity to attract development and influence national discourse in favour of his constituents,” the statement added.

The group further argued that the constituency, endowed with significant human and natural resources, requires a representative who combines policy depth with forward-thinking leadership.

“Aniocha/Oshimili deserves more than seat warmers. It needs a voice that can negotiate, legislate, and deliver real impact,” it said.

Efianya, a Political Science graduate from Umuagu in Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area, has built a reputation for youth empowerment, innovation advocacy, and community engagement.

With political momentum gradually building ahead of 2027, observers say the endorsement by C4Change may signal the beginning of a broader push for generational shift in the constituency’s political landscape.
