Calabar came alive today as the main street parade of the 2025 Cultural Carnival took centre stage.
Held on December 29, 2025, the parade is the highlight of this year’s festival themed “Traces Of Time,” celebrating the city’s rich heritage and cultural identity during the carnival’s 20th anniversary.
Thousands of spectators thronged the streets to witness the Parade of the Bands, featuring colourful costumes, elaborate floats, choreographed dance routines, and cultural performances from across Nigeria.
Organisers said the theme reflects the continuity of Calabar’s traditions while embracing modern creativity, offering visitors a journey through the city’s past, present, and future.
The main street parade is a marquee attraction of Carnival Calabar, widely regarded as Africa’s biggest street festival.
Competing bands showcased their artistic flair in displays judged on creativity, execution, and overall visual impact.
