CAN Chairman Alive, Police Slam Fake Social Media Post

Panic spread on social media in Adamawa State after a post claimed that Fulani terrorists had beheaded Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, the state chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

The Adamawa State Police Command quickly stepped in to set the record straight.

In a statement issued on November 8, 2025, Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje described the viral report as false, misleading, and capable of stoking religious tension.

“The report circulating online is entirely untrue and malicious. Bishop Mamza is alive and continuing his normal duties,” Nguroje said, urging residents to ignore the misinformation.

The spokesperson warned that spreading unverified claims could disrupt public peace and inflame emotions.

Community leaders welcomed the swift clarification, emphasizing the importance of relying on verified sources before sharing information.
