Cleric Applauds Kwara Gov’s Infrastructure Strides

The National Missioner of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Islamic Society, AbdulRahman Ahmad, on Sunday said Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq deserves commendation for the infrastructural development recorded in the state over the past six years.

Ahmad said every government leaves its mark in the sands of time, noting that the governor has contributed to the growth of the state and should be supported with prayers to end his tenure successfully.

He spoke in Ilorin on the sidelines of a Ramadan Lecture Series held in honour of the governor.

Describing government as a social contract that works best when leaders and citizens operate in synergy, the cleric said the success of any administration depends largely on the level of support it receives from the people.

“If the current administration is doing its best, contributing its quota to the infrastructural development of Kwara, who are we to discredit it? It is history itself that will evaluate and judge. My prayer is that history will judge this administration very well,” he said.

According to him, the success of every government is determined by the level of cohesion it enjoys from the people, while the progress of any community or state depends on the cooperation, support, and prayers extended to its leaders.

He added that if the governor succeeds, the credit belongs to the people, but if he fails, the responsibility would also rest on them.

Ahmad also described government as a product of its people and urged citizens to fulfil their civic responsibilities by obeying the law, paying taxes, and maintaining public infrastructure.

He called on politicians and public office holders to promote peace and unity in their dealings, noting that no society characterised by rancour can make meaningful progress.

“Government is not always on auto-drive; it is a product of the people. That is why people have civic responsibilities such as paying their taxes, obeying rules, and supporting government policies and programmes by maintaining infrastructure built for public use,” he said.

Speaking on the benefits of fasting during the Ramadan period, Ahmad said the holy month offers abundant rewards as Allah multiplies good deeds, urging Muslim faithful to extend kindness to others.

He also encouraged residents of the state, particularly those in the Ilorin Emirate, to preserve the legacies of their forebears and work collectively for the development of Kwara State.

The lecture series was attended by several Muslim faithful, including members of the state House of Assembly, cabinet members, leaders of the All Progressives Congress, and representatives of the Ilorin Emirate Council.
