Members of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum have called on party supporters across the country to remain calm as the Court of Appeal prepares to deliver judgment on the party’s lingering leadership dispute on Monday, the 9th of March, 2026.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, the 8th of March, 2026, by the forum’s chairman, Senator Bala Mohammed, who urged party faithful to allow the judicial process to run its course without tension or disruption.
The statement, signed by the Director-General of the PDP Governors’ Forum in Abuja, Dr Emmanuel Agbo, stressed that the judiciary occupies a central place in safeguarding fairness and balance within Nigeria’s democratic system.
“Whatever the outcome of the court’s ruling, the PDP reaffirms its respect for the judicial process and its commitment to peace,” the statement said.
The governors also reminded members that the PDP has played a key role in Nigeria’s democratic journey, helping to build structures and governance systems that protect the rights and freedoms of citizens.
They therefore appealed to party leaders and supporters to handle the court’s decision with patience and discipline.
“The forum calls on party members and leaders to show maximum restraint and remain law-abiding before, during, and after the ruling,” the statement added.
The forum disclosed that party leaders would convene immediately after the judgment to study the implications of the verdict and determine the next steps for the party.
While looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, the governors assured members nursing political ambitions that the PDP would remain an open and credible platform for them to pursue their aspirations.

They also stated that the party is ready to defend the interests of its members despite the timetable already released by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the polls.
The forum stressed that democracy grows when citizens are able to express different views, compete with ideas, and choose from credible political options.
According to the statement, the PDP will continue to uphold these principles while presenting Nigerians with a political choice that reflects the needs and interests of the people.
The governors ended the message by restating their confidence in the judiciary as the arm of government responsible for preserving the balance and stability of democratic governance.
They also assured Nigerians that the PDP remains ready to take part in the democratic process while respecting the outcome of the court’s ruling.
