A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Sagamu, Ogun State, has postponed proceedings in the case involving the driver linked to the road crash that involved former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua.
The court, presided over by Magistrate Olufunmilayo Somefun, adjourned the matter to June 2, 2026, to allow the prosecution to amend the charges before the trial continues.
This marks the fourth adjournment in the case, largely due to efforts by the prosecuting team to file additional charges to the existing ones.
The defendant, Adeniyi Mobolaji, is facing four counts, including dangerous driving resulting in death.
He is also accused of reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention, causing bodily harm, and damaging property, all contrary to provisions of the Federal Highway Act.
In addition, Mobolaji is alleged to have driven without a valid national driver’s licence, an offence under Section 10(1) of the Act.

Ruling on the prosecution’s request for adjournment, Magistrate Somefun granted the application and fixed June 2 for proper hearing. The defence did not oppose the request.
Speaking after the court session, defence counsel Abiodun Olalekan said the adjournment would help ensure fairness in the handling of the case.
The 46-year-old driver was involved in the December 29, 2025 accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which claimed the lives of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami.
The crash occurred when the Lexus SUV collided with a stationary truck, leaving both Joshua and the driver with minor injuries.
Joshua was later treated and discharged from hospital after being certified fit to continue his recovery at home.
