Akwa Ibom Gov Unveils Massive N1.39trn Budget

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on Tuesday, the 25th of November, 2025, presented a substantial N1.39 trillion appropriation bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

Christening the estimate “The People’s Budget of Expansion and Growth,” Governor Eno detailed a fiscal plan focused heavily on development and long-term consolidation of the state’s current growth trajectory.

The Governor highlighted a strong commitment to capital development, noting that 25 per cent of the budget is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while a significant 75 per cent is allocated to capital expenditure designed to stimulate growth and consolidate ongoing development.

In terms of sectoral allocation, Governor Eno disclosed that a substantial N387.5 billion will be dedicated to roads and major infrastructure, with robust allocations also set aside for education, health, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), and strategic projects distributed across the state’s three senatorial districts.

The state’s revenue projection for the 2026 fiscal year stands at N1.146 trillion.

The Governor prayed the House for the speedy consideration of the budget, assuring the lawmakers and the public that the administration’s Arise Agenda will continue to deliver quality governance across the state.

He reflected on his tenure so far, urging continued political unity: “Our achievements in two and a half years are inspiring,” he said. “Let us remain united so our people can continue to thrive in this Land of Promise.”

Responding to the presentation, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, described the annual budget presentation as “a cornerstone of democratic governance.” He commended the positive impact of the Arise Agenda, noting that it has “brought succor and renewed hope to the people of Akwa Ibom State.”

The Speaker assured the Governor that the House would conduct a thorough scrutiny of the budget to ensure efficient resource allocation and the prioritization of projects that effectively uplift the people.

The Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Otobong Bob, offered a vote of thanks, commending Governor Eno for what he termed a visionary and expansion-driven fiscal plan. Bob lauded the impressive capital-to-recurrent ratio, describing it as a strong statement of development commitment, and assured the executive arm that the House will give the budget speedy consideration and timely passage in the interest of the Akwa Ibom people.
