Dangote Denies Ownership of Truck in Enugu Crash as Police Confirm 10 Dead

The Dangote Group has denied ownership of the truck involved in a fatal accident on the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway, as police confirmed that 10 people lost their lives in two separate crashes on Wednesday.

The first accident happened around 9:00 a.m. along the Ozalla–Four Corner axis when a HOWO truck branded with Dangote’s logo collided with a Toyota Corolla attempting to overtake another vehicle.

A Foton bus and a minibus driving against traffic were also caught in the crash.

The impact caused a fire that killed all five occupants of the Corolla and one passenger in the minibus.

Later in the day, at about 3:00 p.m., a Sino truck reportedly belonging to Global Investment rammed into a tricycle at Garriki, Aninri Local Government Area, killing all four occupants.

Police said 10 other people sustained injuries across both accidents.

Following public claims linking the first crash to its fleet, Dangote Industries Limited clarified that the truck belonged to Visco Investment Global Limited, a third-party operator, and not to the company.

It added that the use of its logo on the vehicle was unauthorized and assured that it would cooperate with authorities to investigate the matter.

The police have ordered a full probe into both crashes and urged motorists to avoid reckless driving, especially during the Ember Months when accidents are more frequent.
