Davido Joins Accord Party, Aligns With Uncle Governor Adeleke

Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has officially joined the Accord Party, linking up with his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

Davido announced the move on Tuesday night, December 23, 2025, via his verified X account, saying he would be in Osogbo today, Wednesday, December 24, to collect his Accord Party membership card at Imole House, the state party secretariat.

“I will be live in Osun to pick up my @AccordPartyNG membership card @IMOLE HOUSE OSOGBO tomorrow… see you soon ACCORDINGLY,” he wrote.

The singer’s defection follows Governor Adeleke’s own switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party earlier this month.

Adeleke cited leadership issues within the PDP at the national level as his reason for leaving.

Political analysts say Davido’s high-profile entry could boost the party’s visibility and appeal, especially among younger voters, potentially strengthening Governor Adeleke’s bid for a second term.
