Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman has pledged to oppose any Democratic effort to limit President Donald Trump’s authority to conduct military operations against Iran.
Fetterman, a Democrat, voiced support for Trump’s recent operation carried out alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it a necessary measure to counter Tehran’s aggression.
In a post on X on Monday, Fetterman commended the President for taking decisive action to promote stability in the Middle East, questioning critics who he said were prioritising “empty sloganeering” over global security.

He added that he would vote “a hard no” if Democrats force a vote on a War Powers Resolution aimed at curbing the President’s military authority.
Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Tim Kaine confirmed that he plans to push for a vote on a War Powers Resolution he introduced in January concerning Iran, citing concerns over the President’s judgment and urging the Senate to reconvene.
Fetterman’s stance highlights a growing division among Democrats over the scope of presidential powers in foreign military engagements.
