Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has nominated his Chief of Staff, Dr. Peter Peretubo Akpe, as the new deputy governor of the state.
Akpe’s nomination follows the demise of the former deputy governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
The nominee, who hails from Sagbama Local Government Area, the same council area as the late deputy governor, is a former two-term member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. He currently serves as a senior pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Akpe’s name has been forwarded to the Bayelsa State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.
If confirmed by the lawmakers, he will be formally sworn in as deputy governor.
