DSS Rescues 29-Year-Old Kidnap Victim, Neutralises Two In Imo

Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), alongside other security agencies and local vigilantes, have rescued 29-year-old Ibeabuchi Adibenma from kidnappers in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State.

The operation on Thursday, August 20, 2026, also led to the neutralisation of two suspected members of the gang and the recovery of two high-calibre weapons and ammunition.

Adibenma was abducted at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, near Afor-Ogidi Market in Isiala Amaifeke Community while returning from the International Market in Umuna, Orlu.

The DSS said gunmen riding two motorcycles intercepted his vehicle and took him to an undisclosed location before demanding N15 million ransom from his family.

The rescue comes amid sustained security operations across Imo, particularly the Orlu axis, to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes.
