The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast varying intensities of dust haze and cloudiness across the country between Monday and Wednesday.
In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, the agency projected moderate dust haze over the northern region on Monday, with visibility expected to range between 2km and 5km in parts of Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno and Yobe States. Other parts of the North are expected to experience slight dust haze throughout the forecast period.
For the central region, NiMet predicted slight dust haze on Monday, a condition it said would persist throughout the three-day period.
The agency also forecast a cloudy atmosphere with sunny intervals across the southern region, with isolated thunderstorms expected over parts of Cross River and Akwa Ibom in the morning. Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rain are anticipated in Rivers, Delta, Ondo, Lagos, Edo, Ogun, Bayelsa, Cross River and Akwa Ibom.
According to the agency, moderate dust haze with visibility of 2km to 5km is expected to persist across the northern states on Tuesday, while slight dust haze will continue over the central region. The South is expected to remain cloudy with sunny intervals, with prospects of isolated thunderstorms in Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom later in the day.
NiMet further projected moderate dust haze across the northern region on Wednesday, maintaining the same visibility range. The central region is also expected to remain under moderate dust haze throughout the day.

In the southern region, a cloudy morning is anticipated, followed by isolated thunderstorms with light rain over parts of Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Lagos, Edo, Ogun and Ondo.
NiMet advised residents, especially those with respiratory conditions such as asthma, to take necessary precautions due to the likelihood of dust particles in suspension over parts of the North. It also urged motorists to exercise caution when driving under rainy conditions.
Airline operators were advised to obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for proper operational planning.
