NPFL giants Enyimba FC have emerged as frontrunners in the race to re-sign Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali following his departure from South African club Chippa United.
Sources close to the situation confirmed that Nwabali recently mutually terminated his contract with Chippa United, paving the way for a possible return to Nigerian football.
Enyimba, who previously had the shot-stopper on their books, are understood to be keen on bringing him back as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Talks are believed to be at an early stage, with no formal agreement reached yet.
Speaking during a recent media chat, Nwabali made it clear that he remains open to all options, both locally and abroad.
“I can play anywhere I want to play; there is no restriction,” Nwabali said.
“I am open to any club, local or international. Football deals with happiness, and my happiness comes first.”
He also revealed that he has not received official offers since leaving Chippa United.

“There are no calls yet. The only calls are from my family and friends and people who are shocked at the news.”
While Enyimba are reportedly leading the chase, the final decision rests solely with the goalkeeper, who is expected to carefully weigh his next move.
Nwabali’s potential return would be a major boost for the Aba-based club and the NPFL, given his recent rise and Super Eagles exposure.
For now, fans await his decision as Enyimba continue their push to bring the shot-stopper back home.
