Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, appeared before the Osun State Police Command over a controversial remark attributed to him ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Fadahunsi arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Osogbo, at about 2:33 p.m. and was escorted into the investigation room by Samuel Etaifo Erale, Commissioner of Police overseeing election security.
The appearance followed an August 11, 2026 police invitation directing the senator to report at 11 a.m. on Wednesday over comments allegedly made at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign event in Ilesa.

The remarks, contained in a widely circulated video, drew police concern over their potential to heighten political tension involving the Accord Party.
Fadahunsi has said his reference to “kill Accord” meant defeating the party through votes, not physical violence.
His questioning comes three days before the August 15, 2026 governorship election, as security agencies intensify efforts to prevent inflammatory rhetoric and electoral violence.
The inquiry is expected to establish the context of the remarks and whether they constitute any offence.
