The Federal Ministry of Education has confirmed that students in all Federal Unity Colleges across the country are expected to return to school on Monday, September 14, 2026, for the new academic session.
The ministry said adequate measures had been put in place to ensure a safe and orderly reopening, urging students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders to proceed with preparations for resumption.
The assurance was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folashade, through the ministry’s X handle.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, said the Federal Government remained committed to protecting students and staff while providing an environment suitable for learning.
“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said.
According to the minister, relevant security agencies had been notified of the resumption plans and would maintain increased surveillance around the colleges and their surrounding areas.
He explained that the joint security measures were designed to protect learners, employees and members of the various school communities as academic activities recommence nationwide.

Alausa appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm, obtain information from official sources and make the necessary arrangements for their children and wards to resume on the scheduled date.
He also instructed school administrators to work closely with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure a peaceful and well-coordinated reopening.
The minister further encouraged students, teachers, parents, administrators and other stakeholders to contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive atmosphere within the schools, noting that protecting learners was a collective responsibility.
The ministry said it would continue to monitor the situation and collaborate with relevant authorities to address any developments that could affect the safe and smooth resumption of academic activities in the Federal Unity Colleges.
It also reiterated its commitment to improving the country’s education system and ensuring that children have access to quality education in a secure and conducive environment.
The ministry said the commitment aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which identifies education and human capital development as key drivers of sustainable growth and national development.
It therefore restated that all necessary arrangements had been made for a safe, peaceful and successful reopening of Federal Unity Colleges nationwide on Monday.
