Four Found Dead In Ajah Studio, Including Gospel Artiste Matthew Ogundele

Shock and grief have enveloped the Lagos gospel music community following the discovery of four lifeless bodies inside a music studio in Ajah, Lagos State.

Among the victims was popular gospel artiste Matthew Ogundele. The others were identified as Itunu Ogundele, Joseph Sanya, and a blogger known as Matthew Awosanya, widely referred to as JoesTv.

The tragic incident occurred at a studio situated around the Abraham Adesanya area, where the group had gathered to minister during a three-day birthday praise programme hosted by fellow gospel singer, Olanireti Akinbola.

Sources revealed that the team performed on Tuesday night, the second day of the event, and continued late into the evening. With the distance to their respective homes, they reportedly chose to remain overnight in the studio.

Their bodies were discovered the following morning after the studio owner returned at about 11am on Wednesday and found the door locked from inside.

Neighbours were alerted, and the door was eventually forced open, revealing the four victims inside.

While initial online reports suggested they died in their sleep, the exact cause of death remains unclear.

Images circulating on social media showing blood stains around their noses, ears, and mouths have heightened public concern and speculation.

Confirming the development, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said no visible signs of violence were observed on the bodies.

She added that the victims were taken to the Mainland Hospital in Yaba, where medical personnel confirmed their deaths, before being transferred to a mortuary for autopsy.

The matter has since been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti, Yaba, for a thorough probe.

Meanwhile, friends, colleagues and fans of the deceased have flooded social media platforms with tributes while calling on authorities to ensure a transparent investigation and justice for the victims.
