The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has signed a fresh partnership with Dangote Cement Transport to address the increasing rate of accidents involving articulated trucks linked to the company.
The agreement was reached during a meeting at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja, where both sides committed to measures that would strengthen safety standards and reduce fatalities on the highways.
In a statement released on Thursday, September 25, by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed described the collaboration as an important step toward rebuilding public confidence.
“This engagement is more than a response to recent incidents. It is a proactive step to ensure that lives are saved, confidence is restored, and the Nigerian motoring public is assured of safer highways.
“The FRSC and Dangote Cement Transport share a common responsibility, and together we must drive down crash statistics by investing in training, compliance, and innovation,” Mohammed said.
Murillo Silva, who represented Dangote Cement Transport, joined FRSC officials in mapping out long-term solutions to challenges facing the company’s logistics operations.
Key areas of focus include consistent training and retraining of drivers under the National Skills Qualification Framework, stricter vehicle maintenance routines, and the installation of safety devices to prevent breakdowns.

The meeting also discussed creating joint safety initiatives that could set the pace for other transport companies across the country.
The Corps noted that it is intensifying efforts nationwide through driver recertification programmes, stronger enforcement measures, public awareness campaigns, and routine safety inspections.
Mohammed appealed to other corporate organisations to adopt similar practices, open their fleets to safety audits, and partner with regulators on driver training.
The renewed collaboration comes in the wake of rising public concern after a recent fatal accident involving a Dangote truck.
On August 13, 2025, Ruth Otabor, sister of reality TV star Phyna, sustained critical injuries in a collision between a Dangote truck and a commercial motorcycle near Auchi Polytechnic Sports Complex in Edo State.
The young graduate and mother later died from complications after one of her limbs was amputated.
