Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has dismissed reports alleging that he defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting he remains a loyal member of the ruling party.
In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, 2026, by his former Chief of Staff and Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, the former Kano State governor described the claim as false and the product of a deliberate misinformation campaign.
Ganduje said the posters circulating on social media announcing his purported defection were fabricated to mislead the public, tarnish his reputation and create confusion within the APC.

He maintained that he had neither considered leaving the APC nor held talks with any other political party, stressing that he was not a politician who changed allegiance for personal or political gain.
The former APC chairman said the ruling party remained Nigeria’s leading political platform under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and continued to attract widespread support.
He disclosed that those behind the fake posters had been identified and warned that legal action would be taken unless they immediately withdrew the materials and stopped further circulation.
Ganduje urged APC members and the public to disregard the reports, reaffirming his commitment to supporting President Tinubu and the APC leadership in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening the party ahead of future political activities.
