Ghana Police Arrest Prime Suspect in FRSC Officer, Daughter Killing

Ghanaian police have arrested a Nigerian national, Victor Benjamin Fajemirokun, on 23 November 2025 in connection with the killing of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer Funmilayo Oluwamayokun Lasisi and her daughter, Sewa, whose disappearance earlier in the month triggered a nationwide search in Nigeria.

He was arrested in Akyem Wenchi, near Akwatia in Ghana’s Eastern Region, after an intelligence-led operation. Authorities in Ghana say they are processing his extradition to Nigeria.

Lasisi, a Superintendent Route Commander serving in Ogun State, and her daughter were last seen on 2 November 2025 after leaving their home in Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Abeokuta.

When they failed to return and could not be reached, relatives filed a missing-person report on 5 November 2025 with the Ogun State Police Command.

Investigators later discovered human remains believed to be those of the officer and her daughter at the residence of a suspected herbalist in Osun State on 19 November 2025.

Police had earlier arrested two suspects, including the herbalist, whose statements reportedly helped detectives identify Fajemirokun as the prime suspect.

Evidence gathered during the investigation, including call logs and other digital traces, suggests he travelled with the victims to Osun on the day they disappeared.

Security sources said Fajemirokun fled Nigeria shortly after the incident, prompting an international alert and cross-border collaboration between Nigerian and Ghanaian authorities.

Ghanaian police disclosed that the suspect had been hiding in a friend’s house and was tracked after several days of surveillance. He was arrested without resistance.

The killings have drawn public condemnation, particularly within the FRSC, where Lasisi was described by colleagues as a committed and disciplined officer.

Police in both countries say the investigation remains active, with forensic examinations ongoing and further arrests not ruled out.

Authorities have assured that all suspects connected to the deaths will be prosecuted and that Fajemirokun will be handed over to Nigerian investigators once extradition procedures are concluded.
