Popular Nigerian chef and social advocate, Hilda Baci, has lent her voice to the renewed call for justice in the case of Ochanya Ogbanje, the 13-year-old girl whose death sparked nationwide outrage over sexual violence and child abuse.
In an emotional Instagram post shared on Thursday, Baci reflected on the tragedy of Ochanya’s story, describing it as a painful reminder of the many young girls who continue to suffer in silence. “A 13-year-old girl who should have been safe, loved, and protected — instead, she was failed by the very people who were meant to guard her,” she wrote.
Baci emphasized that honoring Ochanya’s memory requires more than social media advocacy. “It means showing up for those who are still here by creating safer spaces, funding healing, holding perpetrators accountable, and making sure no one ever feels alone in their pain again,” she stated.
In a move that underscores her commitment, the Guinness World Record holder announced a donation of ₦2,000,000 to organizations supporting rape and sexual abuse survivors. She also invited her followers to nominate credible NGOs that could receive the funds, reaffirming her dedication to transparency and community participation.
