The Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has been questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) as investigations continue into the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC).
His lawyer, Jiti Ogunye, confirmed in a statement that Gbajabiamila honoured the commission’s invitation on Monday, July 20, and fully cooperated with investigators.
According to Ogunye, the President’s Chief of Staff arrived at the ICPC headquarters at about 3:00 p.m., where he answered questions relating to the alleged operations of the PFIPC before returning to his official duties.
“In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others,” Ogunye said.
“My client gave his testimony, responded to questions accordingly, and has returned to his duty post.”
The probe stems from President Bola Tinubu’s directive ordering the ICPC to investigate the PFIPC controversy. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga had announced that the President instructed the anti-corruption agency to conclude its findings and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.

The Presidency has repeatedly maintained that the PFIPC was never established by the Tinubu administration.
The controversy erupted after Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi claimed he was appointed through the agency and alleged that Gbajabiamila signed his appointment letter. The Chief of Staff denied the allegation, insisting neither he nor his office appointed Adeyemi to any position.
Adeyemi later accused Gbajabiamila of receiving ₦400 million through a proxy and demanding another ₦200 million to facilitate his appointment, allegations the Chief of Staff has also denied.
Adeyemi is currently facing criminal charges over alleged forgery and impersonation linked to the PFIPC.
He was arrested on July 14 after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant when he failed to appear before the court.
Investigators are also examining claims that the PFIPC operated from the Federal Secretariat, recruited staff and reportedly received a budgetary allocation despite lacking any legal or presidential approval.
