“If You Have Any Problem, Don’t Go To Court Here” — Obi

Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi has urged members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to avoid litigation and instead resolve internal disputes through dialogue, as he formally joined the party alongside ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso on Sunday.

Speaking during his address to party faithful, Obi stressed the importance of unity and internal conflict resolution, warning that frequent recourse to the courts could weaken the party’s cohesion.

“If you have any problem, please don’t go to court in this party,” he said, drawing applause from supporters present at the event.

The defection of Obi and Kwankwaso from the African Democratic Congress marks a notable development in Nigeria’s evolving opposition politics, as both leaders align with the relatively new NDC platform.

Political observers say the move could reshape opposition dynamics ahead of the 2027 general elections, with both men bringing significant regional influence and grassroots support into the party.

Kwankwaso, a prominent northern political figure and leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, also emphasised the need for unity within the party, noting that internal stability would be key to electoral success.

Their entry into the NDC is seen as part of broader efforts to build a stronger and more coordinated opposition front capable of challenging established political structures in the coming elections.
