Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said he called on the management of Arise TV to dismiss one of its anchors, Rufai Oseni.
Igbokwe made the remark in a Facebook post on Friday, the 6th of March, 2026, while reacting to a tense exchange between Rufai and the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, during a live broadcast.
During the Arise TV Morning Show, Rufai and the ambassador engaged in a heated discussion over the crisis in the Middle East. The conversation grew tense when the diplomat attempted to respond to the journalist’s comments.
Rufai had argued that Israel could not be seen as blameless in the ongoing conflict, pointing to what he described as atrocities carried out in places such as Gaza.
As the ambassador tried to respond, the anchor cut him off.
“Hang on a minute, let me finish. Do not interrupt me, ambassador. Let me finish”, Rufai told the ambassador.

The exchange quickly spread across social media, where many users debated the journalist’s conduct during the live programme. Some criticised the tone of the conversation and the manner in which the guest was addressed.
Reacting to the incident, Igbokwe described the anchor as rude and unprofessional, insisting that the station should remove him from the screen.
He wrote, “Rufai is Very rude and unbelievably arrogant. I have asked ARISE TV to remove him.
“He is not a trained journalist. His temperament is very bad, unacceptable and totally unprofessional”.
