The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised a new leadership team for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), naming former Senate President David Mark as National Chairman and ex-Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary.
The update, published on INEC’s website on Wednesday, September 10, also confirmed Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, Ph.D., as National Treasurer, Akibu Dahatu as National Financial Secretary, and Professor Oserheimen Osunbor as National Legal Adviser.
This development follows months of internal crisis that left the ADC sharply divided.

Ralph Nwosu, who assumed the role of National Chairman in 2022, has rejected the appointments, describing them as an “imposition” and pledging to challenge the decision in court.
Nwosu and his loyalists maintain they remain the authentic leadership, pointing to their grassroots support and recent electoral successes, including securing two seats in the National Assembly.
With INEC now recognising David Mark’s leadership, the ADC faces a critical test: whether it can unite its factions, present itself as a credible opposition force, and build momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
