Nigerian dancer and social media influencer, Janemena, has condemned Ibom Air over the alleged stripping and public humiliation of passenger Comfort Emmanson, saying the airline’s handling of the situation has overshadowed the passenger’s misconduct.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Janemena accused the airline’s staff of intentionally stripping the young woman and sharing the video online, calling the act a global embarrassment for the carrier. “Your treatment towards her is now more widely spread across the globe than her behaviour. Shame on your airline,” she wrote.
The influencer also recounted her own tense encounter with an air hostess on a different Nigerian airline while she was four months pregnant. Janemena said she had a valid “fit-to-fly” medical clearance saved on her phone, but the crew insisted on seeing a printed copy dated the exact day of travel, in line with the airline’s protocol.
According to her, the situation escalated when she refused to disembark, explaining that she had a medical appointment the same day. The pilot reportedly became involved, and although the air hostess later pleaded on her behalf, Janemena eventually left the flight in tears and purchased another ticket with a different carrier.

Reflecting on her experience, she argued that some air hostesses could provoke passengers into confrontations that would then be filmed and shared publicly. Using hashtags such as #FreeComfortEmmanson, she urged for fairness and an opportunity for the passenger involved in the Ibom Air incident to defend herself.
The airline is yet to respond to Janemena’s comments, while the case continues to draw widespread public debate on professionalism, passenger rights, and ethical conduct in the aviation sector.
