A Magistrate Court sitting in Kano has remanded popular TikTok content creator, Ashiru Idris, popularly known as Mai Wushirya, in a correctional centre for allegedly sharing indecent videos featuring a dwarf woman whose identity remains unknown.
The presiding judge, Magistrate Halima Wali of Court No. 7, ordered that the social media personality be kept in custody for two weeks pending the continuation of his trial.
According to LEADERSHIP, officials of the Kano State Censorship Board arrested Mai Wushirya last week following the circulation of viral videos showing him shirtless and engaging in what authorities described as “immoral and demeaning acts” with the woman.
The Censorship Board said the videos violated state laws prohibiting the production and dissemination of obscene or sexually suggestive materials.

Speaking after the court session, the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, disclosed that the court also ordered the arrest and appearance of the woman featured in the clips.
“The court has directed that the woman be brought before it at the next hearing. Before his arraignment, we made efforts to get him to identify her, but he refused. Now that there’s a court order, we are confident she will be located,” Sulaiman said.
He added that the woman is believed to have fled to Zamfara State, while authorities are collaborating with security agencies to ensure her return to Kano to face trial alongside the TikToker.
