The Kano State Shura Committee has ordered the suspension of prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Lawal Shuaib Abubakar, widely known as Sheikh Triumph, from all preaching and teaching activities pending the outcome of a probe into alleged blasphemy.
Addressing the press after a review session, the committee’s secretary, Shehu Wada Sagagi, explained that members assessed both audio and video materials linked to the cleric before reaching their conclusion.
“Today we met again to review the allegations against Sheikh Triumph. We listened to and watched his recorded sermons. We separated the accusations that had no evidence from those supported by evidence. Every verified point has been documented,” Sagagi stated.
He added that a formal letter will be served to the cleric, mandating him to appear before the panel and defend himself. Until then, the suspension remains in effect. Once his defense is heard, the committee will submit its recommendations to the state government.

Reports suggest that the accusations involve derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad (SAW), doubts raised about aspects of his birth, and claims that the Prophet’s parents were in hell.
Sagagi emphasized that Sheikh Triumph will be granted sufficient time to appear and respond before a final resolution is taken.
