The Katsina State Police Command says it has thwarted a bandit attack along the Kandawa–Dankar road in Batsari Local Government Area, recovering two AK-47 rifles, 24 rounds of live ammunition, and a Boxer motorcycle.
Police spokesman, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, noting that the armed suspects were attempting to block the road at about 10:00 a.m. on November 29, 2025, before operatives swiftly intervened.
He said officers from the Batsari Division mobilised to the scene following a distress report and engaged the hoodlums in a brief gun duel, forcing them to abandon their weapons and flee.
“Upon scanning the scene, two AK-47 rifles with 24 rounds of live ammunition and one Boxer motorcycle were recovered. Investigation is ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects,” the statement read.
Sadiq explained that the operation followed a review of security strategies within the command in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to nationwide security.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, commended the operatives for their swift response and courage, urging the public to continue providing credible information to aid ongoing security efforts.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The development comes days after 37 villagers abducted in Bakori Local Government Area were reportedly released following negotiations that led to a peace agreement, according to a lawmaker.
