Kebbi Govt Denies Reported Bandit Attack

The Kebbi State Government has debunked reports claiming that bandits attacked Maku-ku village in Sakaba Local Government Area, describing the story as entirely false.

The report, first aired by a local FM radio station in Birnin Kebbi, alleged that several people were killed in the supposed attack.

However, the state government has clarified that the incident never occurred within Kebbi’s borders.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 13, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed Idris, said the report was a case of mistaken identity.

According to him, the attack actually took place in Rijau, a community in neighbouring Niger State.

“There was no such incident in Kebbi. The report is misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panic,” Idris said.

He explained that the military base established by the state government in Sakaba had significantly strengthened security in the area and made such attacks unlikely.

The governor’s spokesman urged residents to remain calm and continue their normal activities, assuring them that security agencies were fully equipped and supported to protect lives and property across the state.
