A lecturer at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Mr. Anselm Ojodomo, has died after collapsing in class while teaching.
The Rector of the polytechnic confirmed the incident on Friday in Lokoja through the Ag. Co-ordinator, Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. John Onimisi, describing the development as a “deep personal shock.”
Ojodomo’s death follows the recent passing of another lecturer, Dr. Barnabas Akuba, shortly after completing his PhD, raising concern among staff and students.
Eyewitnesses told journalists, on condition of anonymity, that Ojodomo collapsed while addressing his students, and despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Prof. Salihu Avidime, the Rector, extended condolences to the polytechnic community and the family of the late lecturer, noting that Ojodomo was a member of the Department of Public Administration. He recalled meeting Ojodomo just hours before his death, exchanging pleasantries and shaking hands.
