Kwakwaso Calls For Urgent Rescue Of Abducted Oyo Students, Teachers

A former Governor of Kano State and leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed deep concern over the continued captivity of students and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a statement on Monday, Kwankwaso described the situation as troubling, noting that the victims, like many other Nigerians held by kidnappers across the country, have endured prolonged suffering while away from their families and loved ones.

The former presidential candidate lamented that the abductees were unable to celebrate recent festivities with their families due to their continued captivity, stressing that their ordeal highlights the persistent security challenges facing the nation.

“I am deeply disturbed by the ongoing plight of the abducted students and teachers kidnapped from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State,” he said.

He called on the government and security agencies to treat the rescue of the victims as an urgent priority, urging authorities to intensify efforts to secure their safe return.

Kwankwaso also emphasized the need for proactive measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, warning that recurring attacks on schools and communities pose a serious threat to national development and public safety.

According to him, Nigeria must take decisive steps to overcome its security challenges and restore confidence among citizens.

“The dignity and sanctity of every human life must be protected,” he stated, adding that the country must break free from the grip of insecurity.

His remarks come amid growing calls from civil society groups, residents and political leaders for stronger action against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country. The abduction of the students and teachers in Oriire has continued to attract national attention, with many Nigerians demanding their immediate release and improved security around educational institutions.
