Kwara Govt Urges Vigilance as Security Forces Hunt Kidnappers in Border Communities

The Kwara State government has cautioned residents in Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Oke Ero, and Irepodun local councils to exercise extra vigilance and reduce outdoor movements as security forces intensify their crackdown on kidnappers’ strongholds.

This warning comes amid ongoing joint operations in border communities of Kwara and Kogi, where fleeing kidnappers are reportedly hiding.

“We urge people to be very vigilant and limit their movements to only very necessary routines. That is to avoid being caught unawares as the kidnappers are fleeing their hideouts.
We do not want law-abiding citizens to be affected,” the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, said in a statement from Ilorin on Wednesday, the 1st of October.

Olukoju acknowledged the inconvenience the restrictions might bring to daily life but stressed the need for safety until the situation is contained.

She also applauded the security operatives for their intensified push against the criminals, encouraging them to sustain the momentum until the gangs are “completely neutralised and flushed out of the forests.”
