The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has alerted motorists to fraudulent messages and fake websites claiming that recipients have been penalised for traffic violations.
The ministry, in an advisory issued on its X handle on Friday, said the messages were part of scams aimed at tricking motorists into surrendering sensitive personal and banking details.
It urged members of the public to avoid clicking on suspicious or unverified links, disclosing confidential information or making payments through third-party platforms.
According to the ministry, some of the fraudulent websites are designed to appear as legitimate channels for resolving traffic offences, but are instead used to obtain confidential information from unsuspecting motorists.

It also warned against platforms claiming to offer discounts on traffic penalties, stressing that Lagos State does not provide discounts on traffic fines through any of its platforms.
The ministry said all statutory traffic penalties remain fixed and advised motorists to authenticate their traffic tickets and check their vehicle status only through approved state platforms.
It identified payvis.ng and tms.lagosstate.gov.ng as the official platforms for the services.
The ministry further urged motorists to remain vigilant when they receive unsolicited messages about alleged traffic violations and refrain from making payments or submitting personal and banking information through questionable links.
The warning follows concerns over the emergence of fraudulent online platforms targeting motorists with fake traffic violation notices and payment demands.
