The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has intensified its clampdown on environmental infractions, sealing multiple establishments in the Ifako-Ijaiye and Igando areas for violating noise and air pollution regulations.
The agency disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, following an enforcement operation carried out on Monday.
Among the sealed premises were the Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church located in Georgius Cole Estate, Ifako-Ijaiye; a fufu-making shop cited for heat and air pollution; and Tyonex Nigeria Limited on LASU–Isheri Road, Igando, shut down for constituting environmental nuisance.
LASEPA General Manager, Babatunde Ajayi, said the enforcement was part of efforts to safeguard public health and restore environmental sanity across Lagos.
He noted that the agency had received numerous complaints from residents about persistent noise disturbances from the church despite several warnings.
Ajayi condemned the church’s operations within a residential estate, stressing that freedom of worship must not infringe on the rights of others.
“As much as there is freedom of worship in the State, no individual or association is allowed to impact negatively on the health of neighbours in the name of religious activities,” he said.

The LASEPA boss reaffirmed the state’s zero-tolerance stance against all forms of pollution.
In a related development, the Lagos State Government also sealed the sewage and wastewater treatment facility of Yaba College of Technology for allegedly discharging raw sewage into the environment.
The enforcement, led by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, followed multiple ignored warning letters sent to the institution.
