Makinde Declares 2027 Presidential Bid Under APM In Ibadan Rally

Governor Seyi Makinde on Thursday, May 14, 2026, officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement.

Makinde made the declaration during a political rally held at Mapo Hall amid ongoing political realignments involving factions of the Peoples Democratic Party in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“I, Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Excellency, announce my candidacy for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the governor declared at the rally.

Makinde had earlier led the Taminu Turaki faction of the PDP in the state to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the APM as part of a strategic political alliance ahead of the elections.

Under the agreement, candidates loyal to the PDP faction seeking elective positions including governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats are expected to contest on the platform of the APM rather than the PDP in the 2027 elections.
