The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has commended the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for its support to the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies operating in the region.
Air Marshal Aneke made the remarks on Friday during a courtesy visit to the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, highlighting several projects executed by the commission to assist security operations.
He praised the NDDC for initiatives such as the provision and installation of solar lights, 713 solar inverters, and a multi-purpose facility at Kolo-Otuoke, Bayelsa State, which hosts an Administrative and Management School, a physical education and skills acquisition centre, among other facilities. He said these projects had enhanced safety, operational efficiency, and staff training opportunities in the region.
“The objectives of the NDDC, anchored on providing socio-economic development for the Niger Delta region, are in tandem with the strategic duties of the Nigerian Air Force of providing a secure environment for national growth and development,” Aneke said. He also appealed for the rehabilitation and equipping of Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) centres to serve as training hubs and requested NDDC support for accommodation for Air Force staff in Yenagoa, Port Harcourt, Benin, Asaba, and Warri.

In response, NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to partnering with security agencies to promote peace and development. He cited the “Operation Light Up the Niger Delta” initiative, which has provided electricity to numerous communities, reducing militancy and criminality while boosting commerce.
Ogbuku also praised the Nigerian Air Force for maintaining the facilities donated over the years and welcomed staff participation in the newly relocated School of Administration and Management from Kaduna State. He assured that the partnership between the NDDC and the Air Force would continue to strengthen peace and development in the Niger Delta region.
