Nigerian afro-house singer, Niniola, has announced the death of her husband, Michael Ndika, in emotional Instagram Story posts shared in the early hours of Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
In the posts, the Grammy-nominated artiste wrote, “God took him,” followed by, “My husband died,” and later added, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years,” alongside photos of the couple.
Ndika was reported to be the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on afro-house and contemporary African music.

Details surrounding his death have not been disclosed.
The announcement comes as a shock to fans, as Niniola has consistently kept her private life away from public attention.
She rose to fame after finishing as a finalist on Project Fame West Africa in 2013 and gained global recognition with her 2017 hit “Maradona,” which earned her attention from international stars including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland and Beyoncé.
